My blogging experience so far...
Below is a brief reaction to my blogging experience to date.
• Which language skills have you used when blogging?
I have mostly read, some writing was involved, listening only when
I watched and listened to videos as I explored other blogs. Speaking was
the least used skill- only when talking to my colleagues about the blogging process.
• Which skills would your learners need to be able to blog successfully?
Mainly reading & writing and being IT- confident would help a great deal.
• Could you adapt blogging to allow your students to practice wider skill sets?
Students could present items in class that they explored while blogging to increase the speaking component
Making videos which required interviewing people and posting them on their blog
would increase the speaking & listening involved
• What subjects could you or your learners blog about in the future?
particular aspects of the business issues we are studying- they could do the research
and share their understanding in their own words on the blog.
• What did you like and find interesting about blogging?
Figuring things out- finally being able to achieve things I had been struggling
with for some time, the sense of accomplishment.
• What did you have difficulty with and what do you think your learners might have difficulty with when blogging?
I had problems with the technical aspects and think my students will do much better in
this area. It is more likely that they are going to struggle with the language- both
producing is and understanding the sources they incorporate.
